Let It Go

from www.PositiveChristianity.net

From Raleigh, North Carolina, a woman writes:

“I’m a precrastinator. A precrastinator is different from a procrastinator—it’s someone who does everything as fast as possible just to get it off her plate and move on to the next thing. But I find that the hurrier I go, the behinder I get! It’s exhausting.

A few weeks ago, I was talking to my mom about it, and she shared her new favorite axiom—an old Spanish proverb she read in a magazine: ‘How beautiful it is to do nothing... and then to rest afterward.’

I love it. How often, with everything on our plates, do we end up feeling like human doings instead of human beings?

No matter what is happening to us—or through us—the good or the not-so-good, it is important to pause, breathe, and rest. From that stillness comes wisdom and guidance, strength and courage, creativity and enthusiasm, wholeness and peace, joy and love.

Affirm: I need not do anything except simply be—and receive the revitalizing blessing of quiet, peace, and stillness.

There are people who can walk away from you. And hear this clearly: when people can walk away from you—let them walk. Don’t try to convince someone to stay with you, love you, call you, care about you, or remain connected to you.  Your destiny is never tied to anyone who left.

People leave because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you cannot make them stay. Let them go. That doesn’t make them bad people—it simply means their part in your story is over. You must recognize when someone’s role in your life has ended so you don’t keep trying to revive what is already gone.

You have to know when it’s over. There is a gift in goodbye. It’s not about being harsh—it’s about being faithful. Trust that whatever is intended for you will be provided. And if something requires constant struggle and strain to hold onto, it may not be meant for you.

If you are holding on to something that doesn’t belong to you and was never meant for your life…LET IT GO!!! If you are holding on to past hurts and pain…LET IT GO!!! If someone cannot treat you right, love you back, or see your worth…LET IT GO!!!

If someone has angered you…LET IT GO!!! If you are holding onto thoughts of revenge…LET IT GO!!! If you are in a wrong relationship or struggling with addiction…LET IT GO!! If you are holding onto a job that no longer fulfills your needs or talents…LET IT GO!!!

If you have a bad attitude…LET IT GO!!! If you keep judging others to feel better about yourself…LET IT GO!!! If you are stuck in the past while God is calling you forward…LET IT GO!!! If you are struggling to heal from a broken relationship…LET IT GO!!!

If you keep trying to help someone who won’t help themselves…LET IT GO!!! If you are feeling depressed and overwhelmed…LET IT GO!!! If there is a situation you insist on controlling, but God is saying, “Take your hands off it”…LET IT GO!!!

Let the past be the past. Forget the former things. Something new is happening today.
