A Child’s Perspective (from positivechritianity.com)

When I look at a patch of dandelions, I see weeds that are going to take over my yard. My kids, however, see flowers for Mom and fluffy white seeds they can blow and wish on.

When I look at an old drunk who smiles at me, I see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money, so I look away. My kids see someone smiling at them, and they smile back.

When I hear music I love, I know I can’t carry a tune and don’t have much rhythm, so I sit self-consciously and listen. My kids feel the beat and move with it, singing the words. If they don’t know them, they make up their own.

When I feel wind on my face, I brace myself against it. I feel it messing up my hair and pulling me back when I walk. My kids close their eyes, spread their arms, and fly with it until they fall to the ground laughing.

When I pray, I say "thee" and "thou" and "grant me this, give me that." My kids say, "Hi God! Thanks for my toys and my friends. Please keep the bad dreams away tonight. Sorry, I don’t want to go to Heaven yet. I would miss my Mommy and Daddy."

When I see a mud puddle, I step around it. I see muddy shoes and dirty carpets. My kids sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to cross, and worms to play with.

I wonder: Are we given kids to teach, or to learn from? No wonder God loves the little children!

"Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things."

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed fervently to be rescued, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none came. Exhausted, he managed to build a small hut out of driftwood to protect himself from the elements and store his few possessions.

One day, after scavenging for food, he came back to find his little hut in flames, with smoke billowing up into the sky. The worst had happened. Everything was lost. Stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger, he cried out, “How could this happen to me?”

Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. “How did you know I was here?” he asked the rescuers. “We saw your smoke signal,” they replied.

It’s easy to feel discouraged when things seem to be falling apart, but we shouldn’t lose heart, even during moments of pain and suffering. Remember this the next time it seems like your little hut is burning to the ground, it just may be a smoke signal.

Two small boys were discussing eyeglasses.

"Wouldn't you hate to wear glasses?" one asked.

"No," answered the other, "not if I could have the kind my grandma wears!

My mom says she can always tell when people are tired, discouraged, or sad. She sees when someone is in need and can always recognize when you’ve got something on your mind that you need to talk about. But the best part is, she can always see something GOOD in everybody!"

The little boy continued, "I asked my grandma one day how she could see that way. She said it’s because of the way she’s learned to look at things since she’s gotten older.

So, I’m sure it must be those glasses of hers!"

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all of us could see each other through Grandma’s glasses?
